Our “Special” History
1987
Program began as Holy Spirit Extended Child Care in Overland Park, Kansas. Founded by Lynda Connolly, and was licensed for 12 chidren
1989
Mary Hornbeck, Lynda’s daughter, took over the program which then had grown to 24 children
1991
Special Beginnings Lenexa location was opened and licensed for120 Children Infants through Kindergarten
1996
Camp Special Beginnings opens for School age summer camp in Lenexa
2000
Special Beginnings Olathe location opens. This location serves 60 children; Infants through Pre-Kindergarten.
2001
Special Beginnings After School Care opens, This program is now ocated at the V.F.W. in Lenexa, Kansas & provides quality care and educational programming for 60 children.
2008
Special Beginnings Cleveland Center opens at the Cleveland Chropractic University; licensed for 105 children — ages infant to school age
2017
With multiple locations, Special Beginnings provides excellent care and education to over 400 children each day.
